Celebrities with Illness: Wealth vs Health – The Losing Battle
APRIL 7, 2024 | LLOYD PHAST
Many Americans have mistakenly accepted if they were financially wealthy all their health issues would vanish. This common belief is far from being true. History has shown us that many financially affluent people, including celebrities have suffered terminal chronic illnesses that produced the same fate as those without abundant wealth. Here’s why…
Wealth Health Misconceptions
In this society, it is commonly accepted to equate having premium healthcare and access to expensive prescription medicine afford us better health! We hear this rhetoric everywhere, from the Healthcare system, pharmaceutical companies, corporate media and politicians running in elections.
Because these misconceptions are prevalent in our culture, it's hard for some individuals to envision facts about achieving good health. Instead, many tend to neglect their own health because they believe healthiness is only achieved through monetary wealth. With that said, suffering from chronic diseases is still widely accepted as a misfortunate circumstance that mostly affects those with minimal income.
Wealth Doesn’t Guarantee Top Health Even for Celebs
Sitting on a pile of cash does not immune the rich from chronic illnesses. In fact, many financially well off individuals can and do suffer the same ill fate as everybody else annually in the US. Case in point, Apple Inc. most famous founder, Steve Jobs was credited for launching the company's successful products, like the Macintosh computer, iPod, and iPhone. With his influence the small start-up business has expanded into what is now a successful international company. But no one could have predicted that Apple Inc. founder would suffer defeat from chronic degenerative diseases. In 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with pancreas cancer. Then in 2004, Jobs underwent a complex surgical procedure called pancreaticoduodenectomy (or "Whipple procedure") to remove a tumor in his pancreas. Eventually, in 2009, Jobs underwent liver transplant to deal with more health complications. Jobs died in 2011 at the age of 56 years old, leaving behind a wife and four children.
Wayman Tisdale, another example was a professional basketball star who played 12 years in the NBA. After Tisdale retired from basketball he launched a very successful jazz career as a bass guitarist, he was a gifted and talented bass player. He too would suffer from terminal chronic illness. In 2007, Tisdale was diagnosed with bone cancer on his knee and suffered from type-2 diabetes. Then in 2008, Tisdale's right leg was amputated because of the bone cancer. Eventually, Tisdale died in 2009 at the age of 44 years old, leaving behind a wife and four children.
Both Jobs and Tisdale were successful with their careers which afforded them monetary wealth, particularly Jobs. Steve Jobs accumulated a massive fortune and yet he still was unable to overcome his health issues. Both men had high standard medical care services and access to expensive prescription drugs and still they passed away tragically from chronic diseases. What this lesson teaches us is having monetary resources, premium medical care, top rated health insurance and access to expensive medicine has very little to do with achieving quality health. These are all just misguided memes that most of us follow because we do not have the full spectrum knowledge for managing health.
What’s Missing?
Then the question begs, what is necessary for sustaining top health? If these two men had the right knowledge for supporting health they would have probably avoided early demise. So, what important pieces of information did they missed during their battles with poor health? The most important information we need to improve our health is to understand why we suffer from chronic degenerative diseases in the first place.
Here are 5 top reasons why poor heath is widespread in America:
- We are starving from nutrition deficiencies which lead to the frequent eating habits, a symptom of pica.
- The foods we mostly eat are inadequate to support top quality health and that is why we're constantly hungry.
- The frequent consumption of poor quality food produces chronic degenerate diseases and rapid aging.
- The poor diet habit doesn't change in time because we are unaware that consuming low nutrient foods are toxic to our bodies.
- We are uninformed that our bodies unconditionally need 90 essential nutrients to maintain excellent health and to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses. Without these nutrients in our daily diets, deficiency diseases persist for a lifetime.
These are the five main reasons why many Americans have chronic health issues. In our society this information is not common knowledge and trails behind the popular health myths that most people follow. In addition, the 90 essential nutrients we need in our diets are not present in modern food so we need to supplement with them each day for our wellbeing.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, it's not having abundant disposable income that we need to reduce the threat of chronic degenerative diseases, its right health knowledge and putting it into practice that will prevail in the end.
