If you are missing quality sleep time because of insomnia you are not alone. Currently, millions of Americans are suffering from insomnia which is responsible for producing constant sleepless nights. Long-term insomnia can lead to health problems which can reduce quality of life.
Insomnia is a sleeping disorder which affects individuals' ability to sleep. People who suffer from insomnia are considered insomniacs and have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep for prolong periods at a time.
Many Causing Factors for Insomnia
There are many factors that can cause insomnia to occur. Some of the issues that can cause insomnia include eating before bed time, unhealthy diets, poor health, drug use, alcoholism, smoking, exercise, inconsistent sleep times, working graveyard shifts and stressful lifestyles. Although, the most common reason for insomnia is related to poor diets responsible for elevating cortisol levels after eating.
Additionally, the increase usage of wireless mobile devices in modern society has created a new health problem unlike seen before, the rise of harmful levels of artificial electromagnetic fields, (EMF) generated by wireless network cell site towers that has saturated the urban environment.
In Part 1, we unwrap how elevated cortisol in the bloodstream before sleep time plays a major role for insomniacs and then provide some solutions for reversing the disorder. In Part 2 we will review how concentrated levels of artificial EMF pollution in most cities can also be contributing to those suffering from sleeping disruptions. We also share tips to reduce the effects of artificial EMF that may finally help you get some quality sleep.
Insomniac Plague
Insomnia has become a major health problem in America that has led to more people suffering from sleeplessness issues. The side-effects from insomnia include frequent drowsiness during wake hours, having low energy, suffering from depression and risking potential hazardous accidents from occupations such as airplane pilots, machine operators, and truck drivers. If the condition doesn't improve, insomnia can influence irritative behavior, rapid aging, chronic degenerative health problems and even earlier demise for some. We sleep to rest and to allow time for the body to make necessary repairs for healthy cell reproduction. If sleep time is diminishing that leaves little time for the body to rejuvenate itself and as mentioned promotes rapid aging.
Elevated Cortisol Initiates Insomnia
Cortisol, colloquially known as the flight-or-fight steroid hormone because many are familiar of the glucose energy it provides the body under threatening situations. The hormone is produced in the adrenal gland complex for managing physiological stressful conditions in the body such as dealing with strong taxing emotions and toxins in the bloodstream but many are unaware that cortisol is also produced to aid the metabolic process. Its main function is to increase blood sugar and to suppress the immune system to allow the metabolism of calories. During the metabolic phase blood glucose is increased to fuel tissues, mostly the heart and brain so that the body can manage the physical toll of digesting food. The released cortisol in the bloodstream during the metabolic process keeps the body active in order to complete the digestive function.
Problems Eating before Sleeping
Americans are very familiar with refined processed grain food because that is the main staple of the Standard America Diet. Refined processed foods are natural foods stripped of their nutrients and only left with the carbohydrate portion which is sugar that is sold as boxed foods. Consuming sugar in high doses is toxic for the body. Americans have high blood glucose health problems because of consuming high levels of these processed foods from the S.A.D. diet. Almost half the population suffers from type-2 diabetes and over 66% of the population has a chronic disease illness as a consequence of consuming the Standard America Diet. Insomnia is one of the many chronic disease side-effects that occur from these poor eating habits. Frequent eating before bedtime presents sleeping problems because the body is attempting to successfully complete the digestive process which requires one to be fully awake. Also with the body saturated with elevated blood glucose, the pancreas produces high levels of insulin to manage blood sugar down to normal. Insulin in the bloodstream triggers cortisol from the adrenal glands to provide energy to deal with the excessive sugar toxin in the body. The higher blood sugar levels are in the body the longer it takes for insulin to lower blood glucose and more cortisol is required to complete the digestive process. That's why it's a bad idea to eat just before sleeping.
Solutions
One can reduce the chances of suffering from insomnia by first eliminating the high consumption of the S.A.D. foods from the diet and by eating more natural organic foods. This act alone will end the cascading side-effects of high blood sugar, high insulin and high cortisol released into the bloodstream, all common causing factors for insomnia. Second, it is recommended to eat at least four hours before sleeping to give the body enough time to complete the digestive process. Insomnia is reversible with practice and consistency.
If you're not eating the Standard America Diet before bedtime or not practicing any of the behaviors that can influence poor sleeping patterns and still is suffering from insomnia then you could be a victim of EMF interference.
